STEM Academy at Boonton High School Studies CRISPR Technology

Ms. Fondacaro and the STEM Academy students visited Students2Sceince, a program that provides students with experiences that are tied to careers in the research, development and manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology-based medicines, medical devices, biomedical technologies, and other products that improve the lives of organisms. Students explored the world of gene editing using the Nobel Prize winning CRISPR technology, isolation of a natural insect repellent, quality control testing of a pharmaceutical product, and development of a vaccine against an infectious agent.
