Just Floating Along!

The Boonton Makerspace Club marched in the 28th Annual Boonton Fire Department's Christmas Parade. For the second year in a row, the club's unique float won 2nd place for best float design. This year, Makerspace students designed and fabricated a float based on a Chinese-style dragon. Students created this backstory for the float: A couple of entrepreneurial elves wanted to speed up their gift wrapping. So they tried to use some Christmas magic but accidentally turned their wrapped gifts into a dragon!

Float Design: Each body segment consists of a gift wrapped box. Some of the boxes had tops that could open to reveal a Christmas surprise inside. A stuffed animal or decoration would pop up from the box. The head is styled after a dragon's head with a moving mouth. Each body segment was connected together with mesh ribbon and LED lights.
