Once again, our John Hill School sixth, seventh, and eighth-graders participated in the VFW Patriots’ Pen Youth Scholarship Essay Contest. This year’s theme was “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?” The middle school participants wrote a 300-400-word essay on this topic. A huge thank you to the Boonton VFW Post 242 for sponsoring the contest, selecting the winning essays, providing the prizes, and to serviceman Tony Scozzafava, US Navy PO3, for coming to our JHS Spelling Bee on November 18th to formally present the awards to our winners. In third place is Fares Soliman (8th grade); in second place is Nicole Zyga (7th grade); and first place is awarded to Riya Haidari (6th grade).
