JHS 5th grade students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational field trip to Island Beach State Park. The park provided the perfect outdoor classroom where students could experience science in action. During the trip, students put on waders and participated in seining, a hands-on activity that involves collecting and observing marine life from the water. Other students explored the beach and took part in activities designed to help them learn more about the coastal environment.  Throughout the day, students used their observation and inquiry skills as they investigated different organisms and their habitats. They learned about ecosystems, communities, and the environmental factors that help living things survive and thrive. The field trip was a fun and memorable way to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences while gaining a deeper appreciation for New Jersey’s natural resources.
