Students in Grades 3–4 participated in the NJCGTP Annual Learning Carnival at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship in Morristown this week. Each student attended three 45-minute workshops alongside students from neighboring districts. Workshops included Math Mania, Kaleidoscopes, Bee Hummers and Duck Quackers, Lego Printing, Computer Science, Raritan River Study, Exploring Skulls, Embroidery, and much more. Our students truly enjoyed learning new skills, meeting new peers, and exploring their interests.

With last week’s storm and the cold weather this week, Mr. Nosal put on his weatherman hat and visited with our Pre-K students and 3rd graders to talk about weather forecasting and the role of a meteorologist. He explained how meteorologists study weather patterns to create forecasts and gave students a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to present the weather in front of the camera. Students were engaged, asked great questions, and enjoyed learning how science and communication come together in predicting the weather.

The Middle School Winter Dance was a huge success! Students arrived dressed to impress, snapped photos at the winter-themed backdrop, and danced the night away with friends. Our in house DJ, Mr. Diaz, kept the energy high by spinning today’s greatest hits, while students enjoyed snacks and pizza throughout the evening. A special thank you goes out to all of our staff chaperones for their support and to Student Council for their hard work in making this memorable night possible!

The Helping Hands Club and Students for Change are excited to kick off their hygiene supplies drive and invite the school community to participate. Donations of hygiene items can be dropped off at the library or in front of Room 312. All collected supplies will be donated to the Boonton Pantries on February 27th to support those in need. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support in helping make a positive difference in our community!

John Hill School continues to make attendance a top priority, recognizing that students get the most out of their education when they are present and engaged each day. Regular attendance plays a key role in academic success, and JHS is proud to encourage this through our monthly Attendance Award, which is given to the grade level with the highest percentage of students in attendance. For the month of December, the 7th grade earned this honor! Congratulations to the 7th grade class for their outstanding commitment to being present and ready to learn. Keep up the great work!

The 5th grade students had an exciting and enriching visit to the Students 2 Science ISAAC Laboratory in Hanover. During their time at the lab, students engaged in hands-on learning as they built sail cars and explored the properties of drones. These interactive activities allowed students to apply scientific concepts in a meaningful and engaging way. The students thoroughly enjoyed working in the lab and participating in the experiments, making the visit both educational and memorable.

In Mrs. Hughen's 8th grade ELA class, the students are learning about one of the oldest mysteries in human history....Who was the Iceman? The students have been researching the mystery, creating artifacts, and presenting their findings. Maybe they will crack the case?

We are proud to celebrate our middle school students who earned Honor Roll and High Honor Roll this marking period. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to academic excellence truly shine. Keep up the great effort as we move into Marking Period 2—we’re excited to see what you accomplish next!

Kit’s Interactive Theatre made an exciting return to John Hill School this week, bringing history to life for our students! There were two engaging performances, The Oregon Trail for our 3rd and 4th graders, and Ancient Egypt for our 5th and 6th graders. Through storytelling, music, and audience participation, students and staff alike were immersed in these fascinating historical eras while having a fantastic time learning. We extend our sincere thanks to the PTA for sponsoring this wonderful and educational assembly!
