JHS Guidance Counselors' Message to the Community
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! Christine Maier is our counselor for grades 3 through 5 and Heidi Brady is our counselor for grades 6 through 8 (Ms. May Mizov is our leave-replacement counselor until Ms. Brady returns). School counselors serve as a resource for students, their families and staff members to provide support for the academic, emotional and social development of the children.
We will be meeting with students in classroom guidance and lunch bunches throughout the year. We will also be available for individual and small group counseling as the needs of students arise throughout the school year. The Guidance department will continue to reinforce the concepts of developing good character, making good choices and creating good habits in order to make school a safe and peaceful place for all students to thrive. We will be addressing the NJ Anti-Bullying legislation in a number of proactive ways such as: building coping, communication and social skills. Our goal is for JHS to be a place where diversity is celebrated, everyone feels respected and kindness definitely matters.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have about your child or issues that may impact their academic and developmental success. We can assist your family in obtaining appropriate supports and resources both in school and in the community.
We are looking forward to a great year at JHS and believe that when home and school partner in meeting the needs of children, they can achieve great things!
