Student Craftmanship
Chris Calderon, 10th grade, created a unique project that utilized traditional craftsmanship as well as digital fabrication. Chris designed a martial arts belt display, featuring his name in Japanese and a CNC engraved dragon. This challenging project required Chris to use nearly every tool in the woodshop! Chris opted for traditional joinery which focuses on tight tolerances, glue, and wood strength rather than nails or screws. He used SketchUp (an online CAD tool) to create his design. Chris's work is an example of what students can achieve when they are willing to learn new techniques.
